Friend's Pass explained: buy once, play two

How It Takes Two and Split Fiction let a friend join for free, and what the limits are.

1The idea

Hazelight's co-op games are built for exactly two players. To make that easier, one player buys the game and the other downloads a free Friend's Pass.

2What the friend can do

The friend can play the full game online together with the owner. They cannot play with other people or start a session on their own.

3Accounts

Both games need an EA account linked to Steam. Set that up before game night to avoid waiting.

4Cross-platform

Split Fiction's Friend's Pass works across platforms, so a PC owner can play with a friend on console. It Takes Two's pass works within the same platform family; check the store page for details.

5Split-screen

Both games also support local split-screen, so if you are on the same sofa you only need one copy anyway.
