1The pitch
You work for the Company. Your job is to fly to abandoned industrial moons, collect anything valuable and bring it back to the ship before the quota deadline. Inside the facilities, monsters lurk, and the quota keeps rising.
2Playing together
Proximity voice chat is the secret ingredient. You only hear friends nearby, so a friend who wanders off goes quiet, and the screaming you hear down the corridor tells you what is coming. One player can stay on the ship to guide the others with the terminal.
3Who carries who
Roles appear naturally: the navigator on the ship, the scavenger who goes deep, the coward who carries the scrap. Experience helps, but newcomers have fun from the first round.
4Look & sound
Grainy, low-fi visuals and superb sound design. Footsteps, doors and distant noises do most of the scaring. There is some gore.
5Setup & value
Online co-op for up to four players, Early Access, under $10. Rated Playable on Steam Deck. It has a huge mod scene, but everything here refers to the base game.

The verdict
Verdict
“Lethal Company is one of the best nights out you can have without leaving the house. Cheap, scary and hilarious, it is built around friends talking to each other, and it shows.”
