1The pitch
Each round, players pick an item to add to the level: a platform, a spike, a crossbow. Then everyone races to the flag. You score if you make it and your friends do not, so you place traps that are just hard enough.
2Playing together
It is mostly competitive, but the cooperative party mode lets you build together. Online and local play support up to four, and cross-platform play is available.
3Who carries who
Simple controls, and the level-building mechanic gives newcomers a chance to sabotage the experts.
4Look & sound
Bright, cartoon animals and a lively soundtrack.
5Setup & value
Local and online play for up to four, cross-platform. Verified on Steam Deck. Free updates added characters and modes.

The verdict
Verdict
“Ultimate Chicken Horse is the best friendly-rivalry game here. Not strictly co-op, but a perfect party starter.”
