1The pitch
Portal 2 has a full single-player story and a separate co-op campaign. In co-op, two robots are put through tests by GLaDOS, an AI with a sharp sense of humour and no patience for teamwork.
2Playing together
Each robot has its own portal gun, so four portals are in play. Puzzles require planning together, and the game provides ping markers and countdowns to communicate. It is one of the best examples of co-op design ever made.
3Who carries who
Puzzles require both players' brains. A stronger puzzle-solver can guide, but both must act.
4Look & sound
Older but still clean and stylish. The writing and voice acting remain brilliant.
5Setup & value
Two-player online or split-screen co-op, plus single-player. Very cheap, runs on anything and Verified on Steam Deck. Community-made test chambers add endless content.

The verdict
Verdict
“Portal 2 is still a masterpiece. For under $10, it gives two players one of the smartest co-op campaigns ever made.”
